blustery

i saw a very funny and cheeky poster right outside of the art museum just now. the euro is in full swing here, and most things have a soccer twist to them. the caption says: 'interesting foul' and the picture shows a sculpture of a naked bearded guy hugging a naked younger guy from the behind. haha. talk abt sex praved artists and their homo erotica!

speaking of which, i think soccer players have hot bods. for real. we had watched france vs netherlands at the big screen in front of the cityhall just now. (ouch. how can france ever lose so badly?!? 4-1?!? somehow all the traditional powerhouses r falling like cards...o well. i shan't really comment.) the atmosphere at the plaza was less exhilarating than yesterday, but o well, u can never even get anywhere this big in singapore.

we had overslept this morning and only woke up after 9! i was even starting to dream of really mundane things. but i suppose it's much needed needed extra sleep. i really should start slackening off in preparation of school that's starting almost as soon as i return.

today's honestly a rather slack day. we visted this beautiful palace at the edge of the city and it was just marvelous. it even has got europe's oldest yoo (with pandas!), which we didn't waste our time on. the rooms were exquisite, though not decadent and lavish like the versailles (the hapsburg were thrifty and good rulers who didn't get booted out by their own pple), but the palace was pleasant on it's own right. the palace grounds were very pretty and very nice for a stroll.

but it was such a windy day! little dust storms would be blown up once in a while and the trees were rustling incessantly! it is really rather cold today - i daresay our coldest yet. well, i'm not really complaining. anything's better than hot, sweaty and humid.

the afternoon was spent in an art museum (kunst-something) which has all the old masterpieces, which were really delightful, but were rather heavy. it was really quite an impressive collection amassed by the hapsburgs! pity we didn't have time to visit the sculpture collection to find the cheeky statue and see the bust of the egyptian queen!

today's cafe was cafe sperl. a very nice and relaxed place, which we enjoyed very much. the melange was delicious, though i didn't find the sachertorte as impressive (obviously, comparatively) but the cheesecake was special and nice ;)
